The Summer Palace

Today we went on a sightseeing trip to the Summer Palace, the place where the Chinese emperors spend their summer when it got to hot in the Forbidden City.

We where 7 of 9 families who went for sightseeing with a big coach. We walked around the area of the Summer Palace for about an hour and then we went to a place to have lunch. This was a strange experience. We are so used to only be two families when going on sightseeing trips, now we are surrounded by 7 small Chinese babies, their parents and some siblings......

The lunch place was not as stylish as the ones we got used to from Wuhan, but they had western style toilets . Unfortunately this does not help much, when you have an old knitting Chinese lady sitting right outside your toilet booth. Very disturbing!!

All the four families who where in Ganzu to pick up their babies got sick with diarrhea and vomiting. Some of them are still sick, and all we healthy people cross our fingers that this sickness will pass us bye....please, cross your fingers for us.

I will show you some of today's pictures:

Picture 1:
A ceiling of one of the buildings belonging to the Summer Palace

Picture 2:
Another building belonging to the Summer Palace area with the Hallgren Family in front.

Picture 3:
Summer Palace building with a little Max & Yasmin in front. I don't know what's happening to the children, but they love to sneak in on every photo...it's becoming a kind of sport....look at the next picture

Picture 4:
"Lense louse" Max in action.....

Picture 5:
A marble boat belonging to the Summer Palace area. Too bad there is not enough water for the boat...

Picture 6:
Carina and Max again.....silly goofs

Picture 7:
A part of our group. Strollers everywhere. And the strange thing is, the Chinese people do NOT see that the children are Chinese. For us it is so obvious, but they always ask us 2 or 3 times and then our guide has to confirm that they really are Chinese. Strange??!!

Picture 8:
YES, it was cold. We were so used to the 15 degrees C from Wuhan, Beijing was a shock. Really cold. We needed long johns, hats and gloves. But Yasmin was warm as you can see.

Picture 9:
Ole and Yasmin at dinner this evening. We are normally so tired, that we eat dinner at the hotel. They do have a lovely buffet.
