Our Last Day in Wuhan

Today was our last day in Wuhan since we are leaving for Beijing tomorrow. We are really excited to go to Beijing and to meet the rest of our adoption group. All together we are 9 couples, but here in Wuhan we are only two. We flew to Beijing together from Norway, but split to go to different provinces. Now we are coming together again. We will stay one more week in Beijing, included Christmas eve, before we leave for home again. But before we leave, we will use the entire week to get to know Beijing upside down - including the markets and other shopping facilities.....

On our last day we visited the Hubei Provincial Museum. This was really interesting. Here you find the tomb of the Marquis of Yi. The Marquis of Yi was very fond of music and when he died in 433 BC he took his 13 musicians, girls between 15 and 21, with him into the grave, together with his 8 concubines and his dog. He was also buried with all the instruments and utensils which where valuable for him. The Marquis believed in reincarnation and when that would happen he wanted to have all the loved ones and loved items around him. His enormous grave was found by accident in  1978.

After this trip we went to one of Wuhan's 130!! (imagine that) lakes, it's biggest, the East Lake. Around the lake you find a lovely recreation area and we went for a walk around the lakeside.

We finished sightseeing with yet another incredible lunch. After that we went back to the hotel to spend the rest of the day there. We do have a special playroom for the children which they enjoy very much.

Now we have to start packing. Tomorrow we have to go to the registration office once again to finalize the passport for Yasmin and then at approx 1 am we have to leave for the airport. We will be in Beijing in the evening.

It has been very special to be in Wuhan. The people here are very friendly. They always stop to talk to you, they smile at you, stare at you and they want to play with your child. The Chinese people do really have a special place in my heart and I would love to come back many times. I am so glad my daughter is born in this country.

I include some pictures of the day.

Picture 2
A extremely detailed vine cooler found in the Tomb of the Marquis of Yi. All the small ornaments are in fact little snakes.

A patient Yasmin -  as always.

I do have to make a correction. Yesterday I wrote that Wuhan is China's 3rd biggest city, that is wrong. Since I am sending all posts via email I can not make changes after they are posted, so therefore I would like to tell you that in fact Wuhan is the 6th largest city in China!

We do have in fact some family members who are not so familiar reading English, so it might happen Ole will post sometimes in Norwegian to explain our journey to them. I will continue posting in English.

Now I have a child ready to take a bath. I wish you all a nice day today. Again, enjoy our pictures and thank you again for posting your comments. We love to read them even though we are not able to respond to them other than sending emails. In case someone wants to send an email, you can reach us on julenisses@hotmail.com.

Lots of love from
Ole, Beate, Carina, Max & Yasmin

Hei igjen!
